Food & Fitness

Promoting Healthy Eating & Physical Activity

Food and Fitness

The Food and Fitness impact team focuses on addressing food insecurity, healthy food options for Newarkers, as well as aiming to reduce obesity rates within the city.  The team’s focus is to bring organizations already working in these areas together, along with key academic and clinical experts, to develop common ways to help community residents, both adults and children, lose weight or maintain a healthy weight, and to help increase food accessibility for all residents.

Healthy Homes

Everyone Deserves a Healthy Home

Healthy Homes

The Healthy Homes impact team had the goal of identifying and interrupting features within the disinvested housing stock of Newark that create or contribute to ill-health in children.  The two areas of focus for the impact team were lead exposure and asthma triggers.  The team sought to address both of these through community outreach and advocacy for policy change.
